August 2024 - Peterborough Litter Wombles had a litter pick on the river and we couldn't have asked for better weather.
About 25 bags (5 recycling) were collected from the river and the Embankment. Thanks to all who took part, especially those canoe volunteers and Peterborough Boat Hire for giving us special rates. This was a repeat from last August and we hope to get more volunteers come next year.
It's happening - PLW and PCC new Bins are introduced across Peterborough pathways as a result of PLW trials using PCC Lamp Posts and fencing to tie PLW Bags where no bin is present and littering is occurring in that area.
PLW Bins No1 & 2 are in place at Parnwell and Thorpe Meadows and 3 PCC Bins added along a stretch of pathway in Fletton.

Great news - Aragon has agreed to participate in a monthly clean up of a particular litter and/or fly-tip 'Grot Spot' in Peterborough. Working alongside Aragon PLW volunteers have been invited to join in every last Friday of every month starting end of May 2024. This is a step closer to getting rid of those sometimes hidden litter and dumping of items. Aragon will provide a vehicle to collect the litter and fly tip items and manpower whilst PLW will supply any necessary Litter Picking equipment. Fantastic result on the GBSC day 16/3/24 here in Peterborough with over 213 bags of litter plus collected by volunteers from across the region. PLW would like to thank everyone involved in organising this one day event.
